Reason #2 – Children’s Ministry is VALUED!
I saw this picture on Yahoo! News this morning. It was in reference to a new TIME Magazine coming out with pictures of the Civil War. What I found interesting was that many families apparently traveled with soldiers during the war. In other words, if a person was going to serve in Afghanistan today he or she would take the family with them! Could you imagine that?!
Parents, imagine taking your three children under ...
Nietzsche was wrong // God’s not dead
The Vision Experience is officially less than a week away. I’ll be dedicating the blog again this week to telling you why I think it’s going to be more than worth your time to not only attend, but embrace Sunday’s Vision Experience. It’s crazy to think of the events of the past few months for both my family and the entire Mercy Road family. In January we had our first big Mercy Road event. A ton of people ...
Fire in the Belly
I recently went parasailing. I’ve never had any passion to go parasailing. In fact, I’d never even thought about it. Apparently my mom has wanted to go for 30 years and she needed someone to go with her, so I went.
In my early bachelor days I did a lot of crazy things. I can honestly say parasailing was not something that frightened me. I will say, when you’re hundreds of feet in the air, looking out at ...
NEW Monday Meltdown w/Info & Important Dates
It’s Monday morning and I’m back in Bridgeway office today.
I’m so thankful for Bridgeway giving me this space in these early months to pray and plan for the start of Mercy Road. I’ve got my creative shoes on this morning and I’m asking God for guidance for the next 6 months to a year. It’s unreal how quickly people and organizations develop in that amount of time.
One year ago I had taken a first ...
Monday Meltdown
For those of you unfamiliar with the OutOfAshes.tv blog, every Monday I post the latest news for Mercy Road (the new, passionate church a team of us are starting on the north side of Indianapolis). This Monday there is an overwhelming amount going on, so I’m going to resort to an abbreviated list this week.
1. Vision Experience – Our final Vision Experience will be on Sunday, April 17th at 5:30 p.m. We’re still finalizing the location, but mark your ...
Change that hurts might not be all bad.
The loss of our son Jaxton has definitely forced me to think about change. It is an inevitable part of life. Each second, minute, hour, day…we’re a different person. I was reminded of this, this morning when I saw these pics of Jake:
Jake isn’t that kid any more. He talks now and is defiant and is obsessed with every Disney character he’s ever encountered. We’re all constantly changing.
I realize spiritually we’re all constantly changing. We’re either growing ...
Burying My Son
This weekend has been beyond difficult for us to bare, but we’re still pushing forward. We buried our son Jaxton on Saturday. Technically, we had a funeral on Saturday and went to the cemetery where we found out his vault was full of water, so he’s in a “temporary” site for now. My wife, Lisa, and I will be going back to the cemetery for his final burial, once the ground has dried.
Needless to say, it’s been a dramatic and ...
Jaxton
For those who haven’t heard, our son Jaxton was delivered by C-section last night and we are in the hospital witnessing Jaxton fight for his life. Thank you all for your prayers, they’re definitely working and God hears them!
I’ll be taking a blogging hiatus. You can read updates on Jaxton on my wife Lisa’s blog: http://www.lisahusmann.wordpress.com
Crucial Moments
This blog has been dedicated to seeing the American Church rise up out of It’s ashes of spiritual apathy. I believe this is often done not just in the big things, but the small ones. Being kind when you shouldn’t, showing compassion when others aren’t, speaking up when most are silent…but today I’m wrestling with the big moments. Those crucial moments in life that often define, not only who we are, but what really matters for us in life.
I ...
